The Seattle Seahawks have inked a 10-year partnership with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.
The former CenturyLink Field’s North Plaza will be renamed Muckleshoot Plaza, and cultural elements such as artwork showcasing the Tribe’s rich history will be on display at stadium events. On Seahawks gamedays, fans can enjoy annual Tribal dance performances.
In honor of the 10-year partnership, the Muckleshoot Tribe hosted Seahawks executives, along with Legend Walter Jones and team mascot Blitz, for a special celebration event at the Muckleshoot Tribal Offices in Auburn, Washington, on November 1.
The event included cultural performances by Tribal members, a ceremonial blanket wrapping with Tribal Elder Royalty and meeting with the Muckleshoot Tribal Council.
Walter Jones also spoke to students at the Muckleshoot Tribal School about the importance of education and hard work.
Joining forces will empower the two entities’ commitments to community initiatives. The Seahawks plan to partner with the Muckleshoot Tribe on vital programs such as elder health and youth leadership development, according to a Seahawks press release.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Muckleshoot Tribe to the Seahawks family,” said Amy Sprangers, Seahawks Senior Vice President of Revenue. “We were honored to take part in today’s celebration event where we saw the Tribe’s amazing culture and traditions first-hand. We are excited about what we plan to accomplish together to inspire and enrich our collective communities for years to come.”

News about the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe’s partnership with the Seattle Seahawks breaks on the heels of Muckleshoot Casino announcing its partnership with the still nameless NHL Seattle team. Signage advertising Muckleshoot Casino’s expanded gaming and resort amenities will soon grace the NFL team’s homebase, KeyArena, currently undergoing a massive $930 million renovation.
The NHL relationship will promote Muckleshoot Casino’s growing gaming floor and its forthcoming 18-story, 400-room hotel tower forecasted to open in 2021. The Auburn-based casino has additionally been named sponsor of all power plays during hockey games. The completion date of the resort addition at Muckleshoot Casino is aligned with KeyArena’s planned reopening in mid-2021. Muckleshoot Casino will also garner a luxury suite at the Oak View Group (OVG)-operated arena.
