Considering layoffs and furloughs have been the norm for the casino industry in 2020 due to temporary closures and socially distancing that means less traffic for venues, it’s pretty revolutionary that Agua Caliente Cathedral City is opening and creating 500 jobs in the Coachella Valley.
Owned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Agua Caliente Cathedral City is the Tribe’s third casino property. A debut is slated for fall, though an exact opening date has not yet been revealed.
The destination will feature several food and beverage spots — the first of which will be 360 Sports Cathedral City, sister property to 360 Sports Rancho Mirage located inside Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage. Guests can look forward to chavela shrimp, Waygu burgers and fresh salads.
Café One Eleven will offer a three-meal dining experience. The beautiful café will transform from a casual family-friendly restaurant by day to an elegant table cloth experience by night.
Then Agave Caliente Tequila Bar will boast over 50 types of agave-based spirits including tequilas, mezcal, and hand-crafted cocktails and margaritas. It’s attached to the 12,000-square-foot outdoor entertainment pavilion known as Agua Caliente Pavilion, overlooking the mountainous desert landscape. The Pavillion will host reoccurring live entertainment and events; it can be reserved year-round for private parties, weddings, charitable functions, and more. Agave Caliente Tequila Bar will serve up seafood trio ceviche and short rib tacos.
Hailing from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, originally, Executive Chef Julián González will oversee all Agua Caliente Cathedral City’s food, beverage and restaurants when they open later this year.
González’s prior roles include chef de cuisine at The Steakhouse at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage, working as a private chef for celebrities and dignitaries, and as executive chef at Wilma and Frieda in Palm Springs.
In addition to the expertise of González, Agave Caliente Tequila Bar boasts the alchemy of mixologist Ryan Drushel.
Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City will also be home to the classic coffee-house, Java Caliente, open 24 hours a day.
“These one-of-a-kind dining outlets will not only show off the immense talents of our Executive Chef, Chef Julián González, but will welcome you in with warm rich colors, sounds, and aromas, that will make your mouth water from the time you come through our friendly doors,” said Ryan Drushel, Food and Beverage Director of Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City.
