While the Siletz Tribe will open Oregon’s first sportsbook next week, the Oregon Lottery plans to launch online sports betting prior to the start of the NFL season. But Chinook Winds’ brick-and-mortar sports betting is novel in that the state has opted not to allow betting on college games. Chinook Winds will offer NCAA betting.

The Oregon State Lottery will offer an app that allows customers to play anywhere. Meanwhile, Chinook Winds sports betting will only be available at the casino. “All of our wagering will be done in person,” said Will Robertson, Chinook Winds director of casino operations. “We will have no online wagering options.”

Visitors can place an array of bets on professional and collegiate sports at Chinook Winds starting Tuesday, Aug. 27.

“This is an exciting time for the Siletz Tribe being the first Oregon Casino to launch live sports wagering in the state of Oregon,” the casino’s statement said.

After placing a bet, guests can watch the action from Chinook Winds’ Sports Wagering Lounge featuring 15 television screens, or from the Rogue River Steakhouse Lounge, where games will also be shown.

“We’re expecting it to be pretty busy,” Robertson told The Oregonian. “There may be lines to get your bets in.”

Chinook Winds hired Las Vegas Dissemination Co. (LVDC), a national leader in pari-mutuel betting, as its sports betting technology provider.

“In our search for a service provider, LVDC stood out from the start,” Robertson said. “Their professionalism and experience have been on display from day one. We are excited to have them by our side as we begin offering sports wagering for our guests.”

Jay Vaccaro, LVDC, commented: “We are grateful to the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians for this opportunity and are looking forward to sharing our Las Vegas style of sports wagering with the customers of Chinook Winds Casino Resort. The support and cooperation we have received has been outstanding and together we will bring additional fun and excitement to this great property.”
